If you can’t take the heat, stop using the range

Broken RangeMy range blew up today.

It could be a sign that we’re ready to make the leap to raw; more likely, the appliance heard us talking about the new V*****x I’m getting as a late Mum’s Day gift, and it was literally ‘shattered’.

How long can we go without replacing it?  I’m eager to find out.  I have a toaster oven, crockpot, bread machine and barbecue.  All I really need is an electric kettle, because I’ll never give up my tea.

I’m still philosophizing on the whole thing, so at this point, I’ve no intention of checking the oven; I’m certain it still works, but perhaps it’s time to just walk away.

Zesty green parents of three. We grow food and children, and we like them both raw. And I always dress like this.

Love the new website – super accessible and tasteful. Not too “in yo face” but playful and upbeat at the same time. Keep us updated on how long you can make it without the range!

Do you ever cook over a woodfire outdoors?

Sometimes. We use mostly propane and charcoal barbecues here, but we have the occasional campfire when the weather allows. I enjoy all three methods.
We are essentially meat-free now, so we don’t barbecue as often as we used to, but I still like the flavour of grilled veggies and ‘campfire toast’. And I miss burning my fingers on a blackened foil-wrapped baked potato.
Time to book a camping trip!
