Grow or Decay

I had to shake up the routine today, so I did three things I haven’t done in a long time:

I made a big batch of granola.  It’s different every time, but this time, it’s awesome.

I made a quiche, which turned out to be the most perfect quiche I’ve ever done.  The butter pastry was perfect.  The eggs ’set’ perfectly.  The top browned perfectly.  Hardly a drop of water in the bottom.  Perfect.

I cleaned the windows.  I’m ashamed to admit how long it’s been; the truth is, I don’t really know.  Let me tell you:  they have a shine to them that I’ve never achieved before.  But then, this is the first time in my life that I actually tried newspapers.  Wow.  I should have listened to everybody years ago.

Now, we can ignore the fact that the three things I did today are probably not, to most middle-class North Americans, particularly ’interesting’ or ‘important’ or even all that ‘fun’, but let us not ignore the fact that I did them, and I did them at the highest level yet.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring. . .
