No Sun No Fun

I don’t ever remember October being this dark and wet. Unpredictable, yes, but never consistently dreary and damp.

The annual golf tournament at the cottage is held on Thanksgiving weekend. It’s always a roll of the die as to what the weather will be like. We’ve had Indian Summer and we’ve had blistering wind and snow; sometimes both on the same day. Someone always shows up in shorts and someone always shows up in a tuque. (And someone always shows up in a kilt, but that’s neither here nor there. . .) October weather is fickle and fun and brings out the best in everyone.

Not so, this year. So far, the occasional moment of ‘brightness’ has been fleeting. It’s as if the sun is just checking to see if we’re still here.

This isn’t fun. This isn’t any fun at all.
